Communications Working Group
The Communications Working Group (CWG) was established in 2005 with a mission to improve communications both internally within the organisation and externally with the general public. It is chaired by Jane King who is currently handing over to Mike Davis. Both Jane and Mike are National Council members. The group also consists of IMB members from both the prisons and IRC estates as well as members of the Secretariat.
This page has been created to share some of the work of the CWG and provide some useful resources for Board members, particularly those wishing to raise awareness of the IMB in their local communities and those wishing to recruit new members.
Press Conference - Peter Selby
A press conference was held at Holloway Prison on 27th February 2008 to welcome the arrival of Dr Peter Selby as the new President of the Independent Monitoring Boards. A DVD showing a recording of this event has been sent to the Chair of every Board. Please can IMB Members speak to their Chair if they wish to borrow it.
Regional IMB Media Contact
A CWG sub-group has been established to produce sample articles about the work of the IMB to be sent to regional journals, magazines and newspapers. The group is currently working on these articles and will be publishing them on this site during the autumn of 2008. Members will be able to select any appropriate articles and copy them to their local publications.

Network of Speakers
Approximately 90 IBM Members belong to a national group called the 'Network of Speakers'. The network was established for IMB Members who have volunteered to deliver presentations within their local communities with a view to raising public awareness of the IMB.
A training/workshop day was held in London in July 2008 and repeated in Leeds in August 2008 where members of the network were able to meet each other and exchange ideas and information.
Any IMB Member who currently delivers speeches and presentations about the IMB who would like to join the network, or receive the presentation pack, please contact the Head of Communications in the Secretariat for further details.
